A Note Before We Start:

So just a heads up, I often find putting things in ways that are silly and funny so yes, I don't want to become a raisin feels perfect for the topic of tips on how to stay hydrated. Please know I am sure not everyone has the same sense of humor, and I get that it may fall flat to others. That said, if you indulge me a tiny bit and put up with that odd random silliness of how I word things even if you don't laugh at it. I assure you that I will provide you with the best tips, tricks and information I can possibly along with a chuckle either with me or at how lame my humor may be.

Avoiding Becoming A Raisin:

Staying hydrated truly seems to take excessive amounts of time in the earliest moments on Arrakis. This can be very frustrating early on but keep in mind this is a survival game, and as you put the work in, surviving gets a bit easier. That said knowing how to survive if you lose everything is a good thing so learn the lessons of early game well. Planning ahead a bit is a good idea!

  • Drink from the dew plants as often as you can because that water will vanish faster than you think in the sun.

  • Stay in the shade when you can, gather at night instead of day when possible early on, and pay attention to that heatstroke meter that will steal your water and kill you if you are not careful.

  • Find, Craft, or Buy a Literjon ASAP. It's possible to find these among loot often with some reduced durability but if you don't have one even one that is not going to last will be a huge benefit. It is likely you will want more than one always but one will be a huge benefit.

  • Fill the Literjon when you come across water stations or storage containers that you can access! Some caves you loot or locations you go will have them. Obviously if you are dehydrated drink, otherwise fill this little life saver. You can't fill them with dew plants until you get a Dew Reaper but you can drink so keep that in mind and use the dew plants and save the water you carry for emergencies..

  • Get your research done for blood extractor and blood sack. This will become a lifesaver and for some time the main source for you to collect and stockpile water. It also in a tight spot can actually be used to drink. Keep in mind that you can craft more blood sacks while you travel just keep an eye on picking up scrap metal and plant fiber. Craft it before you need it if you fill one make sure you have another or two.

  • You NEED a base ASAP. This is the only way you can progress past constantly needing water to being able to process the blood and stockpile water past the small amount you can carry around! You also need this to fabricate your literjon and stillsuit that will capture rather than lose water over time.

  • Yes, you can drink the blood from those bloodbags directly in a pinch! Ok so you are in an area you are new to, you just finished raiding a camp for intel and the game is screaming about your hydration or lack there of. If your literjon is empty, your stillsuit has nothing to offer, and there are no dew flowers anywhere to be seen it's far better to drink the blood out of the bloodbags you might have collected than to die and shrivel up into a raisin!

Spoiler Free Look Forward About Water:

  • This need will always be a concern, first just for yourself, but later you need it for crafting as well!

  • Water is the most precious thing on Arrakis aside from spice, Later you will have more ways to help ease this need. But get good habits around water now and you will find it much easier to progress later.

  • Knowing your limits is good, how far can you push this and still survive? Dying is troublesome if you are not super close to a respawn point or checkpoint. So knowing how far you can go can help avoid that.

  • Tools are important. Upgrade as soon as you can when it comes to tools. Higher level (or unique) blood extractors will yield higher amounts. Honestly I upgrade tools, weapons, and vehicles (parts of them) first. Better tools = more raw materials = faster stock piling = easier crafting!

  • Better Gear and weapons are also super useful. I have gear for traveling and gear for running science bases or intel camps. You can do all of it from your stillsuit too but if you need the armor keep in mind you need to ensure you have more water with you when not in a stillsuit!
